From Atlantic Records to PBS, Self-Taught Artist Collides With Pop Culture Tucson, AZ, September 25, 2003 - Daniel Martin Diaz, a self-taught artist, has recently found himself in a whirlwind of controversy and excitement as he embarks on an incredibly hectic fall schedule. Atlantic Records commissioned Diaz to create the artwork for the latest release by the multi-platinum band, P.O.D., whose last album Satellite, presented two Grammy Award-nominated songs, Alive and Youth of the Nation. Their provocative new album, entitled Payable On Death, has sparked controversy among Christian outlets across the country. The cover image of a beautiful winged figure has moved these outlets to question whether or not the album would be appropriate for their customers.

When asked about his feelings on the matter, Diaz said "It's quite ironic that throughout my art career I have been censored by a reputable art publication and denied inclusion into art exhibitions because my work is too religious. Now my work may be censored by religious outlets, it's amusing."

The first million copies of the album contain one of three “art cards” created especially for P.O.D by Diaz.

"This plaque was presented to the members of P.O.D. and crew. It represents sales of over 1.3 million worldwide.More importantly, it represents a very special gift from you, our Warrior family from around the globe. (It was designed by artist, Daniel Martin Diaz who painted the cover)" - POD INFOMAN

POD World Tour

Mythology often portrays the human soul as a butterfly fluttering and shimmering in the sunlight. Everywhere this fluttering seems to equate with fire and the inspiration of the divine spirit that energizes life, with the breath of life. The caterpillar's emergence from an imprisoning form is most often associated with the theme of rebirth and resurrection. In spiritual terms this is the release of the soul from the limits of the material world. The transformation of these delicate creatures hints at a process of life moving to infinite life.
